Who organises it
The run is organised by the Run for the Mind organising committee with a group of volunteers from the Mak BTR community, working with local NGOs, schools and colleges, and health professionals. This website is operated by the organisers; contact details are on the Contact Us page.
Why we run
World Mental Health Day falls on 10 October every year. We wanted Mak BTR to mark it by doing something together: moving, talking openly, and showing that looking after your mind is as normal as looking after your body. The 3K is short enough for anyone to walk; the 10K is there for those who want more; every finisher gets the same medal.
What happens on the day
- Three distances: 3 km, 5 km and 10 km. Run it or walk it, at any pace. All ages are welcome.
- Mental-health awareness booths and short talks from health professionals at the start and finish.
- Music at the start and the finish, hydration on the route, and a medal and certificate for every finisher.
What it costs and where the money goes
The entry fee is ₹899 for the 3K, ₹999 for the 5K or ₹1,199 for the 10K per person, inclusive of all taxes, with no extra charges. It covers your run T-shirt, bib, finisher’s medal and certificate, and hydration on the route. Groups of 2 to 20 choose a distance per person and pay the total in one payment. After the costs of putting on the event, everything raised from entry fees and donations goes towards the education of children who need financial help, educational support through community initiatives and, where appropriate, community-service work in Mak BTR. We will publish a short summary of the money raised and how it was used after the event.
